Report Writing - Interactive Workshop

Uncover the skills you need to write clear, effective reports.

How would your life change if your reports were influential enough to help your readers make great decisions?

In this interactive, practical workshop run by Write, you will learn how to identify the heart of your report and focus your reader's attention on it.

You will also learn how to structure your report to lead your reader through your writing in a logical way and draw them to key content. You will master the art of writing clear recommendations and useful executive summaries.

We will teach you the essential parts of the writing process, and how to streamline the way you write. You will also learn how to think about and analyse your writing so that you fully inform your reader.

We will focus on what works and share our ideas and experience. You'll bring a report from your workplace, work on it confidentially, and use our techniques to make it more effective.

Who this training is for?

This training is for anyone who writes business reports of any kind, from project updates to board reports, and longer reports such as policy development.

It will help:

  • people summarising information that will be used by a wide variety of audiences
  • people gathering information and then presenting it to decision-makers to convince or persuade
  • people reporting on surveys or statistics
  • subject-matter experts
  • technical experts
  • policy writers.

In this 1-day workshop, you'll cover how to:

  • identify the purpose of your report - why you need to write the report, why the intended audience needs to read it, and what the audience needs to do with it
  • decide what to include and what to leave out, so your reader isn't left with questions
  • organise your report so information flows logically and is easy to follow
  • write the essential sections - the framework for your report
  • choose the best method for presenting your report.
