Session One - IIA NZ
Presented by Philip Whitmore of KPMG.

We continue to rate cyber security as one of the largest risks facing New Zealand organisations, but are we managing the risk effectively?  Philip Whitmore will provide us insights into how New Zealand organisations are rating from a cyber security maturity perspective, and some of the key actions most organisations could take to increase their maturity without significant effort.

Philip leads KPMG’s Cyber Security Services practice in New Zealand, and has over 20 years hands-on security experience across a broad range of subject matters, including security risk management, red teaming, cyber incident response, security operations and assurance.

The forum will open with the IIA NZ SGM followed by the forum presentation.

Session Two: Isaca
Presented by Mike Davenport, Principal Security Consultant at InPhySec.

Mike is a highly experienced and qualified practitioner.  Mike has held roles in the New Zealand government including NZ Police.  Before InPhySec, Mike was the IT Security Manager at Revera.

Presentation:
Who benefits from information security awareness and training?

In a previous role as an IT Security Manager I was responsible for developing and leading security awareness and training.  No problem, I thought, until I realised that despite what the responsibilities of the JD says, it doesn’t mean that management know what this means and entails.  In addition, getting the attention of staff is a challenge, maintaining fresh content is difficult, and how can we expect people to remain security conscious when often they are so busy?  We all know that information security awareness is important if not essential, but how effective is it, really?  In this presentation I touch on some of my experiences, thoughts on a selection of significant overseas security breaches, and where information security awareness ‘fits’.

Members are warmly invited to chat and catch up with each other during the lunch provided between the sessions.
