Presentation Topic: NZ Cyber Security: Current State, Cyber National Strategy, Challenge and Remediation

It is essential that the private sector, non-government organisations, civil society, business associations and more have the opportunity to contribute to the development of New Zealand’s cyber security settings.

Heather Ward, Principal Advisor, DPMC, will present the revised National Cyber Strategy as Hon. Clare Curran announced a comprehensive refresh of New Zealand’s approach to cyber security in April 2018.

Declan Ingram, Operations Manager, CERT NZ, will present the case for CERT NZ and the need for active engagement across the ecosystem.
David Eaton, Associate Director, Datacom, will be moderating the event.

David Eaton, Associate Director, Datacom

David Eaton is the Associate Director of cyber security at Datacom NZ and is responsible for Datacom's cyber security practice. David serves on the Advisory Board of CERT NZ and is Chair of the Cyber Security Capability Ministerial Taskforce.

Heather Ward, Principal Adviser, DPMC

Heather Ward has been the Principal Adviser in the National Cyber Policy Office of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet since September 2013.
The National Cyber Policy Office (NCPO) was set up within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet in July 2012. It leads the development of cyber security policy advice for government and advises on the investment of government resources in cyber security activities.
Heather Ward is leading the refresh of New Zealand's Cyber Security Strategy and Action Plan (announced by the Minister of Broadcasting, Communications and Digital Media in April 2018).

Declan Ingram, Operations Manager, CERT NZ

A long-time information security professional with significant experience working with business and technology. Declan is the Operations Manager of CERT NZ and leads the technical team. He started with CERT NZ during its establishment as System Architect and worked on all the CERT NZ systems and processes. Prior to CERT NZ, Declan spent many years performing penetration testing and incident response.
