The Year Ahead
The Board of IIA NZ met at the end of last month to confirm the programme for IIA NZ 2020.
The focus of your organisation over this year is to:
- Provide cost effective and relevant training to all members either through structured training courses offered by the Institute or in partnering with 3rd party providers.
- Establish regional networking groups that will coordinate activities eg. networking events, special interest groups, presentations based on local needs.
- Support members in preparation for the certification examinations.
- Introduce the topic of internal audit into University business school curriculum. Great steps have been taken with Otago University with the objective to have internal audit papers being offered to students in 2021.
- Update the website content and integrate social media.
- Host another successful Conference, this year in Auckland, and continue with the extremely popular Education Days in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
Don't forget to download the IIA NZ App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and enjoy the benefits it has to offer and keep up to date on events, training and other IIA NZ news.

Webinars
Members who registered for the IIA Australia webinar on 11 February and experienced log on and confirmation issues, the problem has been identified. IIA Australia acknowledged that over 60 members who should have been subscribed came up as incomplete in the system and the platform owner is currently working on finding out why. What should have happened was an immediate confirmation email upon subscribing and then a reminder email around one day before the webinar with a direct link. There were also people who signed up for the webinar who got neither a confirmation nor appeared in the incomplete list.
IIA Australia apologise and are working to resolve the issues.
In the meantime members can sign up again to see the recorded session once the issues are resolved. Every webinar is available to watch as a recording for at least one year after the initial date and can be accessed for free with the IIA NZ promo code, NZPROMO.
CCMS Unavailable Between 8 - 15 March 2020
Following an extensive process to enhance customers experience with The IIA's Certification Candidate Management System (CCMS), IIA Global would like to inform you they are targeting to launch the new CCMS on 16 March 2020. The new system streamlines the certification application process, integrates single sign-on and offers an improved user experience.
To prepare for the launch, the current CCMS and PearsonVUE scheduling system will be inaccessible starting 8 March at 6.00pm until 15 March. During this period you will not be able to change confirmed exam appointments.
The IIA will be unable to make any changes to programmes or answer any inquiries submitted through CCMS between 8 March and 15 March 2020.
Please visit IIA CCMS for additional information about the transition.

How to Gain CPE from Self-Directed Reading
Looking to turn that reading into CPE hours?
In February 2019, IIA Global updated its Continuing Professional Education Policy: "Requirements for Certification and Qualification Programs" to:
- Include two (2) hours per annum of dedicated ethics education / training
- Exclude the previously recognised CPE activity of reading for self-directed learning.
Many internal auditors are required to undertake a considerable amount of time per year of reading to retain their competency. None of this can be recognised as CPE credits under the current system.
Due to the concern raised by one of our members, IIA NZ lobbied IIA Global to reconsider their stance. Although the "Requirements for Certification and Qualification Programs" still remains the same, the response from IIA Global is that if the prescribed reading is a requirement by internal auditors (within the organisation) to maintain their professional development and knowledge, then a test could be arranged to measure the competency of the reader and the hours of reading be deemed as in-house formal training. It was stressed that any test must be bono fide which tests the knowledge of the reader.
