Strengthening Integrity from the Inside: Spotlight on the Role of Internal Auditors

Webinar Series: Building strong national integrity systems in the Pacific region

This webinar aims to build understanding of the internal audit landscape in the Pacific and how it is supported by the Institute of Internal Auditors New Zealand (IIA NZ). This session will shine a spotlight on how internal auditing plays a pivotal role in creating and supporting a robust governance framework. It will highlight the importance of collaboration, strategic alignment, and adherence to global standards to get the most out of internal audit and to create a stronger integrity system.

This discussion will also reference the Global Internal Audit Standards released by IIA Global (The IIA), which provide a framework that supports and strengthens the overall national integrity system from an internal audit perspective. These standards are essential to ensuring that internal auditors contribute effectively to robust and accountable governance.

The discussion will be hosted by the Deputy Auditor-General of New Zealand Andrew McConnell, and our panellists are Shaun Dowers - IIA NZ Board Chair, Emma Hine - I IA NZ Board Member, and Brian Robb - Senior Internal Auditor and IIA NZ Trainer.

The session will be chaired by Andrew McConnell, Deputy Auditor-General of New Zealand.

This event is led by Office of the Auditor-General of New Zealand but forms part of the advocacy and good governance programme of the Pacific Association of Supreme Audit Institutions (PASAI).

To register for this event email international@oag.parliament.nz by Wednesday 23 October and the meeting link will be circulated to you.
