Probity Audit Fundamentals - Online Classroom

Probity Audit Fundamentals: Understanding the Role of a Probity Auditor & Implementing Effectiveness

A probity audit is an assurance engagement, in which a probity auditor provides independent scrutiny of a procurement process and expresses an objective opinion as to whether the prescribed probity requirements have been adhered to. The conclusion expressed should be based on evidence gathered against prescribed criteria.
Independence is essential to a probity audit. A third party to the procurement should be able to rely on the probity audit to obtain greater confidence as to whether the probity requirements of that procurement have been adhered to. This course is about understanding the role of the probity auditor, the scope of this role and practical examples of how this is undertaken in practice.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the training course, the participant will be able to understand:
  • Distinguish between the roles of a Probity Adviser and Probity Auditor, understanding the circumstances in which they are engaged and the necessity for both on a project.
  • Grasp the concept of independence and its critical importance when providing a probity audit, allowing third parties to place greater confidence in the procurement process.
  • Establish a robust framework for conducting a probity audit, incorporating the essential probity principles and fundamentals that define the scope of the audit.
  • Construct an effective probity audit methodology, including risk identification and management strategies, and the development of a comprehensive test plan.
  • Understand the level of evidence required to demonstrate the appropriate management of probity risks throughout the procurement process.
