Fundamentals of Internal Auditing - Wellington

Starting your career in internal auditing, or looking to brush up on your knowledge?

Then join us for Fundamentals of Internal Auditing - the best way to understand the key aspects of the internal audit process.

Through focused presentations, team exercises and group discussion you will gain a foundation of knowledge that will allow you to prepare for and conduct a successful audit using preliminary surveys and evidence-gathering techniques.

The course covers 12 topics, and the various standards, documents, and practices applicable to internal auditors and audit practices are highlighted:

  • The IPPF and an overview of the audit model
  • Understanding the internal control environment
  • Audit governance, roles and responsibilities: risk management and assurance
  • Internal audit engagement planning and opening meeting
  • Conducting an interview
  • Assessment of risk and controls and the walkthrough
  • Internal audit program development
  • Fieldwork and testing
  • Findings and recommendations
  • Reporting and exit meetings
  • Wrap up and monitoring
  • Quality assurance and improvement program

A basic understanding of the roles of risk and internal controls in auditing will be covered, along with interpersonal and client relationship skills.

This course is designed for internal auditors with 1- 3 years' experience who want to learn the concepts, tools, and techniques to enhance their effectiveness and grow within the profession.

As the course is structured to emphasise the main learning points, a detailed guidebook is also provided to further enhance your learning experience and as a useful future resource.
