Cyber Security

For this month's Emerging Auditors session, Gavin Willbond (Senior Manager - Cyber Security at KPMG) and Diego McCormick (Enterprise Security Architect at KPMG) will join us.

Diego will present on blockchain, a transformative technology with multiple use cases and implementation opportunities. This presentation provides an introduction to Blockchain and Distributed Ledgers, security issues and its mitigations.

Gavin will present on phishing and he will share with us a subset of the information that he has found effective in teaching the sorts of things to look for in emails and therefore be safer.

A bit about both speakers:

Diego McCormick is a Enterprise Security Architect at KPMG New Zealand. Diego has vast experience in developing business-driven, risk and opportunity focused security & information assurance architectures and delivering infrastructure solutions that support the business strategy. He is an experienced presenter at numerous events, seminars, conferences and tertiary institutions speaking on security trends, best practices and standards.

Gavin came to KPMG in July 2018, having spent most of his life in the NZ Defence Force. His last nine years in NZDF was spent in the cyber security team performing a range of functions. One of Gavin's passions is helping everyday computer users understand in a non-technical way that there are nasty people on the internet that have no scruples, and that these people actively try to compromise victims by tricking them into performing seemingly innocent actions, such as clicking links in emails.
